There is no higher priority to us than the
safety and health of our JGSA and Dragon Select athletes, families, and
friends. We are actively and closely monitoring the spread of the Coronavirus,
and we are closely monitoring and staying on top of this evolving situation.
As a Board, we have been working to prepare and
maintain our facilities and fields for the upcoming season, including
installing two batting cages complete with artificial turf between the Quad 2
and Quad 3 fields. While we don’t know with certainty exactly when we will
commence our Little League Recreational Softball (Rec) season, we are making
every effort to provide our participants with the opportunity to return to the
fields as soon as is safely possible.
At this time, the Board anticipates
conducting a Rec season this year, and hopes to do so during the summer months.
Currently, we are targeting June 1
as the soonest Rec activities could begin. This date will be dependent on
recommendations from state and local authorities and various health officials
and is subject to change. If Rec activities begin on June 1, we anticipate
practices beginning immediately and games beginning the week of June 15, with
the entire season lasting approximately eight weeks.
The next JGSA Board meeting is scheduled for
May 17. At that time, the Board will reevaluate the situation and may provide
additional guidance or scheduling updates. In the spirit of transparency, we
will share any updates with you as soon as possible.
As a reminder, while all team activities are
currently suspended at our facilities, the fields at Lew Clarkson are available
to all JGSA Rec and Dragon Select families for individual player/family use and
the Indoor Facility is available to Dragon Select families for individual
player/family use (hand sanitizer is located near the entrance of the facility
and we ask that you please use upon entering). Please be mindful of social
distancing at all of our facilities and we ask that the indoor facility be
limited to one coach and family at a time. At Lew Clarkson, there will not be
any bathroom units located at the Quads until after June 1 at the earliest. The
city has deemed shelters and other community areas that people may locate at
parks closed until further notice and the gates to the facility may be closed
as more information becomes available.
